Recently, the film Animal World starring Li Yifeng has been nominated for the Hollywood Music In Media Awards (HMMA), and its original soundtrack, exclusively released by NetEase Cloud Music, has also been shortlisted into the Best Soundtrack Award of International Independent Films, marking the first mainland Chinese film to be nominated by the awards.

The HMMA is reportedly the first award organization to honor original music in all visual media. It has been 9 years since the industry-authoritative awards were first conferred in 2009. HMMA is committed to honoring good music works released on visual media like commercials, short films, videos, games and TV, offering 28 awards like Best Films, Best Songs and Best Commercials. All nominated works will undergo a voting process by carefully selected media and music professionals from executive organizations such as the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), Academy of Television Arts, Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and HMMA Advisory Committee.

Released exclusively on NetEase Cloud Music on July 6, the original score of Animal World has received broad attention and favorable comments from users. Directed by Han Ting, the film stars Li Yifeng, as well as Michael Douglas as the special guest star and Zhou Dongyu as the special appearance. The film has earned a great word-of-mouth reputation due to stunning visual effects, fantastic story about human nature and high-quality film music since its opening.

The soundtrack of the film compiles 37 original songs including the theme song with the same title of the film sung by Li Yuchun, which was co-composed by Hollywood musicians Michael Tuller and Neal Acree, supervised by Yu Fei. The exquisitely-made music also, as admitted by many users of the NetEase Cloud Music platform, had already “captured” their heart when they watched the movie.

In the future, the NetEase Cloud Music will open up greater space for the organic growth of original soundtracks, with a view of drawing more viewership interest in this music genre.
